STEP 1

Preparation

Required materials

  • Dumawall panels or tiles
  • Tape measure, pencil, and spirit level
  • Utility knife or other cutting tool
  • Dumafix or other adhesive suitable for wall panels
  • Optional: silicone sealant for joints in very humid areas (e.g., shower)

Check the surface

  • Ensure a clean, dry, and level surface.
  • Remove dust, grease, and loose material.
  • Dumawall can be applied directly onto existing tiles or other surfaces.
  • For damp, uneven walls, we recommend using a batten framework for the Dumawall+ tiles.

Acclimatization

Let the panels rest for 48 hours in the room where they will be installed, maintaining a minimum distance of 50 cm from the walls. The ideal ambient temperature is 20 °C.

Read the manual inside the packaging!

Always refer to the detailed instructions included with the Dumawall panels for specific guidelines and important tips.

Measuring and cutting

Measuring

Measure the wall accurately so you know exactly how many square meters of tiles/panels you need. Always ensure you have enough material, as there will always be cutting losses. We recommend providing at least 10% extra material and adhesive.

Cutting the panel to size

Cut or saw the panels to the desired size. Use a fine utility knife or another tool. If you are cutting the panel with a utility knife, make several cuts before snapping it.

Check the fit before proceeding.

STEP 3

Installation of the tiles and panels

Placing the first row:

If desired, first place a profile. Start at the bottom of the wall and work from right to left. Apply adhesive to the back of the panel or directly onto the surface in vertical zigzag stripes. Dumawall+ can also be nailed or stapled. Press the panel firmly against the wall and ensure it is level.

Connect the next panels:

Use the tongue-and-groove connection to easily join the panels together. Finish with silicone in the groove if the panels are installed in a very humid area (e.g., shower).

Finishing and maintenance

Do not attach heavy accessories such as coat racks, light fixtures, mirrors, etc., directly onto the tiles. Instead, drill holes through the tiles and use appropriate screws and wall plugs to securely fasten the accessories to the underlying wall.

For maintenance, use regular household cleaning products.

A soft, non-abrasive cleaner can be used for thorough cleaning. However, in most cases, a damp cloth is sufficient to clean the tiles.

Do not use abrasive cleaners, aggressive substances, or chlorine-based cleaning products. Solvents are also not recommended.

Our products are made of PVC and are 100% recyclable. PVC contains no hazardous substances.

Most frequently asked questions about installation

Can I install Dumawall myself, or do I need a professional installer?

Yes, you can easily install Dumawall yourself! Thanks to the smart tongue-and-groove system and simple installation technique, you don’t need a professional. With a bit of preparation and the right tools, such as a utility knife, adhesive, and sealant, you’ll be done in no time.

Moreover, no demolition work is required – you can install Dumawall directly onto existing walls, such as tiles. The result? A professional, sleek finish without hassle or high installation costs. Glue, click, and you’re done!

On which surfaces can PVC panels be installed?

Glue the panels directly onto smooth surfaces such as plaster or drywall, or even simply onto an existing tiled wall! If you want to install our panels on rough, uneven walls, you can fix them to a framework using nails, staples, or adhesive. More information about the installation method can be found at the bottom of our brand pages.

Can I also install Dumawall on the ceiling, floor, or outdoors?

No, our Dumawall panels are not suitable for flooring due to differences in wear resistance compared to floor panels. They also cannot be used on ceilings because of their weight. For ceilings, we recommend our Dumapan panels, which are much lighter.

Dumawall cannot be installed outdoors either.

Which adhesive / fixing agent should I use?

For bonding Dumawall products to standard surfaces such as drywall or wood, we recommend our Dumafix adhesive. Read the instructions on the cartridge before installation. In general, use an MS polymer or a two-component polyurethane foam. Every material onto which you glue the panels will react differently. Therefore, you must consider both factors: the PVC panel AND the surface to which it is being glued.
